Overview

Starting in Access It! v6.1.0.23, the ability to use a HID FARGO printer with an embedded HID OMNIKEY 5x25CK mini reader to both print and enroll a card has been added.

Access It! Licensing
The following licensing option must be enabled within the Access It! dongle and is a system wide license.

  • Encoder Support - Yes
  • ID Badging - Yes

Supported Embedded OMNIKEY

  • HID OMNIKEY 5x25 CK  - The HID OMNIKEY X-Chip Windows Driver must be installed prior to printer installation
    The OMNIKEY 5127 reader is not supported via the HID SDK.

Badge Type Setup

  1. Ensure the HID FARGO DTC1250e is plugged in and installed within Windows
  2. Open Access It!
  3. Within the Configuration menu, navigate to Badge Types
  4. Edit an existing, or create a new badge type
  5. Select the Badge header from the left hand menu
  6. Within the right hand pane, select the FARGO printer from the printer drop list
  7. Under Smart Code Encoding, select the Printer type Fargo
  8. Under Smart Code Encoding select the Encoder type PCSC
  9. Click Setup
  10. Ensure the OMNIKey reader is populated within the Reader name drop list
  11. Select the Enroll - Wiegand function
  12. Configure the card format definition for the cards to be enrolled
    If the cards were not provided by RS2 Technologies contact the card manufacturer for assistance with the format definition.
  13. Click OK
  14. Save the Badge Type

Printing and Enrolling a badge

  1. Within Access It! create a new Cardholder and Card and assign the newly created badge type
    When assigning a card number and facility code enter random temporary numbers.
  2. With the card selected, click the Print Selected Badge option from the toolbar
  3. During the print process the printer will read the card and replace the random temporary card number and facility code in the Access It! software with the correct values
