Transferring Access It! databases to new SQL Server Instance

Overview

This document outlines the steps needed to transfer the AIUniversal and AIUEvent databases from one SQL Server instance to another. If moving the actual application server from one machine to another see the Migrating Access It! Universal.NET To A New Server article.

Backup

  1. Open the Service Manager (Start | Programs | Access It! Universal.NET | Utilities)
  2. Select Start Server Process
  3. Open the Database Configuration Utility (Start | Programs | Access It! Universal.NET | Utilities)
  4. Click Connect to Database
  5. Click OK
  6. Click Backup/Restore
  7. Select the Backup File Location where the backup files will be created
  8. Click Backup Now
  9. When the status windows reports Backup Complete close the Database Backup/Restore window
  10. Close the Database Configuration Utility
  11. Transfer the newly created backup files to the new SQL Server machine (if machine is separate from current instance)

Restore

  1. Open the Database Configuration Utility (Start | Programs | Access It! Universal.NET | Utilities)
  2. Click Connect to Database
  3. Enter connection information for new SQL Server instance
  4. Click OK
  5. Click OK when prompted to create a new database
  6. Click Backup/Restore
  7. Click Restore Database
  8. Select the AIUniversal.bak file
  9. Click Open
  10. When the status window displays Finished With Restore close the Database Backup/Restore window
  11. Close the Database Configuration Utility
  12. Open the Service Manager (Start | Programs | Access It! Universal.NET | Utilities)
  13. Select Start Server Process
  14. Launch Access It!
